The Information Management Unit is a multi-disciplinary Unit engaged in research and development activities in information Technology Management. IMU is a research unit of ICCS (Institute of Communication and Computer Systems), which was established in 1989 by the Ministry of Education and the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.
Our work encompasses applied research and is multi-disciplinary in nature. We adopt field-based and action research approaches.
Research in IMU addresses the whole lifecycle from data analysis to computation to decision.
from Data to Insight
We mine and combine data and discover useful knowledge by using AI, machine learning and prescriptive data analytics methods
from Cloud to Edge
We address issues like resource allocation across hybrid environments (cloud, fog, edge) and context-aware security and privacy
from Intelligence to Prescription
We develop multi-criteria optimisation and collective intelligence methods that proactively recommend the appropriate decisions
IMU/ICCS is a full member of the AI, Data and Robotics Association (Adra) which joins BDVA CLAIRE, ELLIS, EurAI and euRobotics to create one of the European Partnerships in digital, industry and space. Adra is the private side of the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership in Horizon Europe
IMU/ICCS is a a full member of the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA), a coalition of more than 130 members that aim to design a trustworthy architecture for the data economy and guarantee data sovereignty, the trust- worthy, self-determined exchange of data.
IMU/ICCS is a full member of the Big Data Value Association – BDVA, is an industry-driven international not–for-profit organisation with more than 230 members all over Europe. BDVA/DAIRO focuses on enabling the digital transformation of the economy and society through Data and Artificial Intelligence by advancing in areas such as big data and AI technologies and services, data platforms and data spaces, Industrial AI, data-driven value creation, standardisation, and skills.
IMU/ICCS is a full member of GAIA-X representing ICCS. GAIA-X aims to co-create the future of the digital infrastructure for Europe across dedicated data spaces serving the most critical industries. GAIA-X will establish an ecosystem in which data is made available, collated and shared in a trustworthy federated system that links many cloud services providers and users together.
