Our director Prof. Gregoris Mentzas participated in a panel discussion at the 32nd ICE/IEEE ITMC conference, a flagship event of the IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS) in Porto. The topic of the panel was on “Generative AI for Technology Management in the context of Industrial and Educational Intelligence” .

During the panel he brought insights from our EU-funded projects WASABI, Themis, AIDEA Academy, and FAITH which can be summarised as follows:

• Generative AI is shifting knowledge work from static, periodic tools to continuous, conversational collaboration between humans and AI.
• The biggest adoption bottleneck is not technology — it is trust. Knowledge workers embrace AI augmentation when they can see that it is explainable, robust, and safe.
•  Trustworthiness has to be designed in from day one, not retrofitted once regulation or incidents force the issue.
• The next frontier is extending trustworthiness frameworks to agentic AI systems that plan and act autonomously.
